I'm feeling oddly melancholy today. (Which might explain why I read this lovely Traders fic and sobbed all over [livejournal.com profile] spike21's journal.) I woke up irrationally angry with my mother because I had a dream that she was best friends with Paul Gross and she wouldn't let me meet him. What's with you, brain?

Anyway, here are some sources of distraction:

Bono interviews Eddie Izzard. They are both awesome, and parts of this pertain to "Four Quarters" in interesting ways.

•Someone mentioned the Don't Stand So Close to Me video in the comments to Office Hours, which was oddly enough already on my mind, as I caught part of it on TV at Siria's house the other night. Sting is so hot in this. (Shut up, Siria! So's Pete Tyler!)

Lyrics meme:

8. And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted / I know but too well what they mean --Begin the Beguine, Cole Porter [Trin likes the Sheryl Crow version] (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] etben)

9. Time’s tide will smother you / And I will too --That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore, The Smiths (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] _inbetween_)

10. In starlit nights I saw you / So cruelly you kissed me --The Killing Moon, Echo & The Bunnymen (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch)

20. Open the doors that lead on into Eden / Don’t want no cheap disguise --Into the Fire, Sarah McLachlan (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] aurora_84)

...Bit of a trend there. Not my fault, iTunes was on random. *g*

•Awhile back, I promised to upload some more Dandy Warhols songs for somebody, but because there's a problem with my brain being missing, I forgot. Here are some now:

Sleep
Big Indian
Welcome to the Monkey House
I Am Sound

I have way more, but the files are all on my finicky old iPod, so I'll have to try to snag them later. Sorry for being such a spaz.

•Finally, Beware the Army of Pigs!

Taken in New Square, the day of the Trinity Ball. Oh, college.

I really ought to go to the library. But first: a sandwich!

...Sting. Oh, my child. Let five Hail Marys and three Hello Dollies be your penance for temptation away from the Path of the Hewlett. And temptation away towards Sting.

When did I ever say that Sting is hotter than the Hewlett? He doesn't even come close! The Hewlett is the Zeus of hotness; Sting (young Sting, wearing glasses Sting) is just a minor god.

1. The Shins, "Pink Bullets" ♥
11. ... Buffy? "Going Through the Motions"
13. Idelwild, "American English"

I am SOOOOO moody/melancholy today. Hopefully, I'll be able to channel that into my (late) kink fic. I wish I had my tunes.

I did, too, but the lyrics sites say "plead," and if you listen closely, that could be what he's saying. I'll triple-check.

Well, should such blasphemy ever appear in your journal, I would know well that it hadn't been written by you. Still, any time spent contemplating others when one could be contemplating the Hewlett and his ass is wasted time.

(ooh, rain)

The library is very, very full, by the way. You'll have fun trying to find a seat, methinks.

I think planet Earth is having an emo day. It just started to rain quite heavily.

Your guesses are all correct. Although...there's at least one more that you should be able to get, as you sent me the song! ;-)

Ah. Your strategy differs from mine, then. I sit in the research area, pile books around me, look studious and then... write five hundred words of Julian/Rodney. *headdesks* A loser is me.

Well, when I say 'Julian/Rodney', that's short hand for 'Julian/Rodney if and when I can a) get Julian in character, b) make them stop eyeing one another from across the room and c) make them fuck.'

Once more, I sully the hallowed halls of academe.

Julian/Lionel makes me say 'guh' quite loudly, even if it would technically involve writing a Danielle Steele fanfic. *shudders*

Julian/John involves so many issues that both my brain and my ovaries 'splode. But it's a good death.

Yeah, it was always a crowd-pleaser at parties. We used to sing it loudly and drunkenly.

Have you heard the alternate, studio sessions version?
