Went to a screening of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night. And I was pleasantly surprised. It's not perfect by any means, but it's damn funny, the acting's terrific, and the way they incorporate actual Guide entries is really neat. It ends much as the book does with the perfect lead-in to Restaurant, and I can honestly say that I hope they make a sequel.

Don't tell any of this to [livejournal.com profile] lordelessar, though. *eg*

new Firefly Icon!

hmm, a query... Will the series continue to be known as Firefly after this movie comes out? Or will there be enough new fans that it will become called serenity?

Yeah, baby. New desktop, too. *eg*

I suspect the series will still be called Firefly, but I don't know what the world as a whole will be called. The Malverse? ;-) No, I have no idea. But fingers crossed that the movie is such a huge hit that FOX is like, "Um, about that TV series we prematurely canceled..."

I can't believe we're in the same house, we're LJ-ing to each other, and we haven't even said good morning yet!

Through my job at the Daily Cal. I'm going to review it for Monday's paper. I also interviewed Robbie Stamp, one of the executive producers--a very sweet old British man who was friends with Douglas Adams.

YAAAY. I can't wait for finals to end so I can see it!

Screening? Is this your working-for-the-paper in again? I should get back into journalism, really.

Yep. Journalism: the pay is crap, but the perks are terrific!

I caught a midnight screening last night. Did you noticed that the Marvin from the BBC series made a cameo? That made me happy.

In the queuing scene, right? But what did you think in general?

I liked it. It seemed a bit abreviated, but I think it was pretty good. Can't touch the book, but the book is always better anyway. I liked the way the Vogon's were portrayed, and I think Alan Rickman was perfect as the voice of Marvin.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt. The one thing that really bugged me, though, far more than the "abbreviated" feel, was the tacked-on romance between Arthur and Trillian. ::vomits:: I never knew I was so cold-hearted.
