To Do

Today is my last full day in Ireland. I have a lot to do. I must think about these things in an organized manner, rather than just approach them as I naturally would--IOW, as a scatter-brained moron.

1. Get last of money out of bank account. Whee! All save 38 cents!
2. If possible, use up points on Boots card. Got two free Dairy Milk bars. Yay?
3. Go to the Trinity shop, buy gifts for family and friends. Hi. I have no money.
4. Go to Accommodations Office, check policy on donating bedsheets, dishes, etc. I can 'Leave the stuff in the room with a note.' Once again, I'm finding myself to be oddly fond of Trinity bureaucracy.
5. Finish packing (duh). Well, as much as I can reasonably be expected to do for now.
6. Clean bathroom. Ew, ew, ew. But I'm done!
7. Vacuum room. Done! God, you don't know how glad I am that soon, I will NEVER have to see this carpet again!
8. Buy tea! (Will need yummy Irish tea, even in America.) Bought tea (two boxes). And two Bounty bars. And a Galaxy bar. And a Fry's Peppermint Creme. And a box of Jaffa Cakes.
9. Eat one last ploughmans. And it was a really GOOD one, too!
10. Take a walk around Merrion Square; sit in park for a while, if there's time. Wandered around in the sun, then sat and read How Many Miles to Babylon? for a while near the statue of Bernardo O'Higgins. Took more dorky pictures of Oscar.
11. Return suitemate's copy of Never Let Me Go--which is SIGNED and will make me feel really guilty if I accidentally steal it; why is she never home? Guilt assuaged!
12. Go to O'Neill's for last meal; hope steak and Guinness pie is on the menu (I love steak and Guinness pie). They did, and it was delicious! I ate too much. Oof.
13. Check bus times. Every 15 minutes. Good.
14. Make sure I have proper change for the bus tomorrow. e1.85. Check.
15. Charge and reorganize iPod. Done and done!

I think that's everything. I hope that's everything.

Anyway, sorry for all once and future spammage. This move is making me really, really anxious.

On a happier note, check out the icon [livejournal.com profile] megolas made me. That's me pressing a toe onto Trinity College's sacred grass--which you are absolutely not allowed to walk on, goddammit! I'm such a rebel.

You are scarily organised. I don't think I ever had more than an hour of time for packing (yes, even after a year somewhere else) let alone a day or two just to wrap things up. The list sounds good.

Other people have stars on the walk of fame, you've got a Marten's print in Trinity's grass. Which makes me wonder if you'll rename yourself now?

But the question is, will I actually get off my ass and do all of this stuff? So far I've managed "eat croissants" and "take shower," neither of which is actually on the list, as you might have noticed. *g*

I'm not going to rename myself. For a while it bothered me that my username was so dorky (naming yourself after a school? Dork!) but I like it now, and renaming would just confuse people. Including myself: I occasionally think of myself as Trin. This is Siria's fault, I'm sure!

Well. Shower is more than I managed. I was going to type up my ancient to-do list and realised that half the items already ... expired? If it hadn't involved money, that method wouldn't be so bad :)

Yep, people do refer to you as Trin. I still valiantly refuse to respond to my shortened alies, but the buggers are lazy.

Good luck going home! I am now thinking it's a shame we never met up, being so close, and I should have said something some time. Maybe if you come back for a visit some day. In the meantime, there's always LJ. :)

I was just thinking that, too! *is sad* But I'm definitely going to try to come back for a visit, so. And if you're ever in Los Angeles... =)

Lists are always good. I had a similar list when I left Prague and just been able to do all the things I wanted in one day made leaving easier.

That's a very sensible list and totally doable on a good hearty breakfast of croissants. :g:
It's a shame we met so late into your year at TCD. But it was lovely to meet you none the less! I hope you've a safe (stress free) trip home m'dear.

Agreed, on both parts! Hopefully I'll be able to come back soon and bug people anew. *g*

Huzzah for good music!

Indeed! As you may have noticed from the "current music" on a few of my recent posts, I'm still enjoying your mix a lot. I hope you likewise enjoy the Puddlejumpers' efforts. ;-)

I know how you feel, leaving Manchester, going home was very hard.

It's fantastic, but it takes some adjustment, the accents still jar me - and I was brought up with them.

I find myself getting frustrated with things that were easier in England, or what I thought were easier.

I idealised home so much while away, but it's not perfect, and the people aren't perfect. I've been told by people who have worked in England/abroad that it takes another year to adjust to home life. I believe that now.

And you're going to find, and this isn't positive, that people at home don't really understand at all the entire roller coaster, what it's like to find yourself with two homes, but knowing you cna only live in one place.

It's not easy.

*gasp!* Get off the outlaw train, 'fore you land us all in jail! ;P

Maaaan, now I realise I should really make a list like that - I'm moving in a month, and so far mine simply reads "Start culling stuff"... all I've actually done is failed to put away a lot of laundry. *sigh*

I feel your leaving-beloved-university-place pain. But we do survive. And you're doing well on the to-do list! I'm impressed.

Good luck with the rest of your preparations, and the flight. Be sure to check in once you make it home :)

PS Apparently [livejournal.com profile] astolat is in Dublin today! I imagine you saw her post.

I promise to post as soon as my parents allow. (I suspect they'll be a bit tetchy if I'm like, "Hi, I'm home, gonna go online now, see ya!" *g*)

I did see [livejournal.com profile] astolat's post and had a moment of squee, but I figure that today'd be an even less appropriate time to stalk her than most. ;-)

...I would've left the 0.38 in the bank account, so that you'd have a bank account (for euros!) to return to if you ever need. They close the account when you take all the money out, or at least they do in some countries.

I've never met a Fry's peppermint creme. What are they???

Wait. Steak and Guinness pie...? When did you start eating red meat again and how did I miss this major world event??

(Great icon.)

I did leave the 38 cents in the account. I took out everything save 38 cents.

A Fry's Peppermint Creme is...hmm, kind of like a York? But different? In the same way that Bounty bars are different from Mounds?

I've been eating red meat almost since I got here. That was the idea, that I'd stop once I came so I could experience real Irish food!

Glad you like the icon. Sometime soon, I need to do a big write up of my wacky week with [livejournal.com profile] megolas, [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve, [livejournal.com profile] fyrie, and [livejournal.com profile] wychwood.

Ahhhhh. That makes so much more sense! I was reading it sort of like "all hail" not "all except," though I have no idea why. :) Good plan. ;)

I just had a intense moment of sadness because I was going to be like, "well, maybe I'll figure out how to cook steak and Guinness pie and cook it for you sometimes," and then I remembered that you're not going to be in Berkeley, even though you'll be back in this country. :(

I keep getting pangs of sadness about that, too! But I am still going to try to come up to Berkeley (I'll definitely be there in September) and you'll come down to L.A., of course. You can always cook for me then. ;-) I'd love to try your steak and Guinness pie.
