At the start of each mess hall scene, there was the sound of laughing, including one (to me) incredibly disturbing bit of male laughter. Was that Sheppard? I thought maybe it was Ronon (although it didn't really sound like him), but now I think it must have been Sheppard. (Or else a really bad sound effect.) In which case, [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve was right, and John has the most disturbing laugh ever.

It was Sheppard occassionally rising over the mishmash din of the others yes.

It was.. forced maybe a bit?

Siria always said that if we ever heard him laugh, it would be disturbing, the way it's disturbing when someone with a very sharp knife grins at you.

And it was. Definitely forced, or put on, or...

John, you are so confusing! I love you.

Well, he was probably a little weirded out? I mean, not only is it a second Rodney, but he's kind of awesome. It'd be one of those cool but weird moments. Also with the repression of wtf-McKay-is-hot because he totally was.

Yes, well. We haven't really heard him laugh before, so I think it probably was.

However, Sheppard being disturbing is pretty much par for the course, isn't it?

ZOMG THAT'S WHY HE NEVER LAUGHS. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

Weirdest, creepiest, old-man-porny laugh ever. Ronon's laugh is adorable, he sounds like a big dork. But John has... yes. Um. ::wince::

It's totally a weird, porny old man chuckle. And while that works (and is oddly compelling) when it's quiet and under John's breath, at the volume it had to be in the mess scenes, it just sounds distored and forced. Totally distubring.

depends, I think, on which disturbing piece of male laughhter it was. The HUH HUH HUUUUUH is Ronan - it freaked me the hell out during Irresistible, and much as I love the bewildered looks on Rodney and John's faces as they come into the mess and find everyone entranced by Lucius, I can't watch it because Ronan's HUUUUUH is so FREAKY.

Joe's laugh was weird, but it was Ronan's that made me want to beg him to hush up.

DUDE YES I SAID THE SAME THING.

I was, "That... can't be Sheppard. Maybe they're slaughtering a... moose or something."

And then I was like, "Dear GOD, please let that not be Sheppard."

And then... it was. I might have cried.

Thank goodness Sheppard is usually so laid back and sardonic, because I don't think I could handle that guffaw on a regular basis.

My two cents? He already knew all the little stories, seeing as how he is *totally married* to Rodney, so he was trying to act like he'd never heard it before. He did not succeed. ;)

Yes! OMG, yes! I'm so glad! Every time that happened we were like, 'Oh, god, who the hell is that?'. Jesus. I think it was Ronon. I hope it was Ronon, I don't like to think that Joe is capable of thinking that that is the way a booming laugh sounds. Although, um, actually it is quite likely. Have you ever heard him laugh in RL? He has SUCH a creepy, pervy laugh, it's kind of a 'snerr herr herr' sound through his nose, it's hilarious, but nothing like the laugh in M&MM.
