Man, I have felt so bored and boring lately. Thank God [livejournal.com profile] neery was here, but now she's gone away and I am sad. *pout* Also, I called around to about 80 million people in an effort to get SGA's S2 release date, only to find out that it's been pushed back to next year. (The person who had the info very much amused me, however, by announcing, "But Stargate SGI is coming out next week!" Yes, SGI. Like CSI's cousin in space?)

So anyway, yes: *pout*

I'm stuck doing photo research and I need a brainless distraction. Lyrics meme:

Unrelated: Neil Gaiman's new short story collection came out yesterday, but I haven't gotten to read it yet and I brought it to work with me apparently because I am a masochist and I really want to read it and it's sitting right here STARING at me and why oh why can't it be "Read Short Stories at Work Day" today? PLEASE?

ETA: And 'cause I've just been wondering about this: have all of the Bulwer-Lytton winners received their prizes? It's been more than a month since the first bunch went out, and a couple weeks since the second. I hope they've arrived!

*is pedantic*

I think I really, REALLY need to make an effort to see that show.

bears more than a passing resemblance to a young Rodney McKay, characterisation-wise.

So it's really the true story of Mensa!Shep?

If Mensa!Shep is a psychologist--which, actually is not such a stretch, since we don't know that he is a soldier in that AU, and the sleeping in til noon definitely suggests not--then it very well could be.

When he first meets Georgie (the POV character), who is a mature student returning to college, he tells her that she "maybe you should try the Cuisines of the World class down the hall--you could probably ace that one."

They have to work together on an assignment. When he goes over to her house, he mocks her interior design, and eats balogna sandwiches at an impressive rate. Then he tells her "When it comes to the application of scientific thought to human behaviour, you are frankly out of your league. So if you don't mind, I'll diagnose the patient and you make the coffee."

He also is rather pushy when it comes to romantic issues and has massive, massive issues with his late father, who was very highly known in the same field and pushed him to over-achieve as a child.

This is all within the first fifteen minutes of the first episode he's in. You see why my head went boom, right?

*butts in*

The parts I found funniest, though? When he should've seen it coming (although for a plot point not nearly as fun as sex) and the mention of "Back to the Future". I'm beginning to think there is something about JF that makes people give him those lines, no matter what kind of role he gets to play...

Oh, the Back to the Future part just about killed me. Him mocking Georgie by using example plot lines from daytime soap operas was also pretty special. "Tiffany just hasn't been the same since the baby was born..."

Ahahaha, yes! That was priceless.

I did have an uncomfortable moment in that scene when Georgie's sisters are all over JF's character. I totally expected them to ask if they could clone him. Now, that would have freaked me out...
