My apologies if other people have mentioned this, but check out this shot from the scene where Elizabeth first comes to talk to Rodney about Ascension:

I think Rodney is using his altered DNA to enjoy citrus!

I totally have an unfinished fic where he does that. (Hmm. Perhaps I should just turn it into a porny missing scene?)

Rodney, I love that between making scientific advancements in the field of science and being like Jesus, in a way, you found time to sample Asian lemon...whatever. *heart*

ETA: Oooh! And again! Good, he got to try the orange, too:

I think the important bit was not the "He's eating more than he should and not exercising enough" but the comment Teyla made about happiness. I don't remember specifically what it was, but she said something along the lines of "He's eating to hide his unhappiness."

Not that I think they should have gone there. Being hypoglycemic myself (to a small degree) it is all about eating something periodically throughout the day in order to keep your BRAIN functioning properly. I just shut down if I don't have something to eat, so I completely understand where McKay's coming from.

That bugged me too, though it was John who said it (I think), so I hope that was just him being a weirdo with a weird sense of humor. I have (borderline, undiagnosed) hypoglycemia, too, and yeah: if I don't eat, I can't THINK and I get really, really cranky.

Stop being so weird, John. Go have some gay sex; you'll feel better.

*raises fist in the air* Three cheers for borderline, undiagnosed hypoglycemia. The 'not being able to think' thing KILLS me. Ugh.

actually that could kinda make sense...I'm hypoglycemic too (the lovely not-diabetic kind -_-) and if my blood sugar drops my mood shifts like crazy. (Best indicator the other half has to throw food at me :P)

Eat, and it shifts back to normal

So sad leya + food = happy leya....

*nods* I totally get that. ferret_kitty + food = a much happier ferret_kitty.

So I think we can safely pin it down to Teyla's misunderstanding of hypoglycemic mood swings *nods*

ahh fanwanking. How I love thee...
