So in the end, Ireland won “her own private war”—neutrality at any cost.

That's the last sentence of the very last essay—the very last assignment—I'm going to write as a college student.

I am more terrified right now than I can possibly express. What Do You Do With a B.A. in English?

I think I'm gonna post some fic.

Your friend is awesome. Maybe I should look into that? If I can't be F. Scott Fitzgerald, I certainly wouldn't mind being Max Perkins.

And the awesomest thing? She gives me free books too, hoorah!

Seriously though, she's some kind of editor (don't ask me exact details) for HarperCollins and I know she does a lot of liaising with authors and printers and sorting out book designs and stuff - it sounds pretty interesting. I do know that it did take her a while to get a job in publishing, maybe a year of looking, and I think most of the houses are based in London if you're looking to stay here.

English language publishing is pretty much centered in London and NYC.

Here in NY, it's a very competitive field. In fact, it's so competitive that most of their entry level employees work there for...free. :gasp: :horror: It's obstensibly an "internship", but what it allows you to do is get your foot in the door and get the experience you'll need to move up into a paid position.
