Ugh. I can already sense that today's going to be one of those days where I can't concentrate or be at all productive at work. But at least I finally finished my story for sga_flashfic's Superpower Challenge:

Characters: S1 team—Sheppard, McKay, Weir, Teyla, Ford, Beckett & Zelenka
Length: ~3700 words
Summary: Scenes from another evolution.

(I'm kind of like, "Dude! I wrote gen!" Except that, in my head, it's totally not.)

So...now I have nothing to do except try to write the "Also Showing" column and pretend that I'm actually funny. Sigh. Anybody have any cool blogs to recommend?

I think your movie rewrite would probably be received fine, as long as it's clear that you did more than just find/replace names—which I'm sure it is! As for why I say fusion in this case instead of crossover: IMO, a fusion blends two universes, so that the SGA characters were always mutants, or they always had dæmons, or whatever. A crossover is more about the universes colliding, so like, if Rodney ran into Logan at a bar, that would be a SGA/X-Men crossover, whereas this story, where Rodney has Logan's powers and some of his backstory, is a fusion. Does that make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. Wow, you've put a lot of thought into this. I don't write crossovers so much, so I've never really dwelt on it.

And yes, my fic does more than substitute names. ;-) Thanks for the advice, I'll take it onboard. I'm not quite finished yet, so I'll see how I go...

It was inspired by the Reel_SGA challenge, so it's that sort of format.
